A Large & Unique Collection of Vintage Trout Flies & Lures, Canada Circa 1965

About the Item

A large & most unique collection of approximately 275 vintage hand-tied wet & dry trout flies, all mounted & described with typed labels, suitable for framing and would an attractive & highly interesting display for any avid angler, or as an accent in a country home setting. Seemingly made by an inmate at Saint Vincent de Paul Penitentiary in Laval Quebec during the 1960’s. An accompanying handwritten note referencing a fly-tying manual is contained within a manilla envelope retaining its original Canada Post label, dated 1965 together with, ‘Satellite Industrial, 200 St. Francis, St. Vincent de Paul. PQ’ (PQ is the abbreviation for Province of Quebec). Each of the five panels measures, 23.75” high x 15.75” wide, (note: some panels are incomplete as illustrated), all contained within a hinged, hard shell carrying case, measuring 17.75” high x 25.75” wide x 4” deep. See the accompanying, associated documentation titled ‘Crime & Delinquency’ - Subsection 2, published in 1964 by The Canadian Penitentiary Service, prepared under the direction of A.J. MacLeod, Commissioner of Penitentiaries, Ottawa, Ontario Canada.

    Wear consistent with age and use. All appear to be in very good un-used condition, although there are a few examples missing. The exterior of the folding, canvas-covered wooden case exhibits normal wear but is structurally very sound, as are the hinged clasps & carrying handle.
