Pair of Antique Slazenger Tennis Posts

About the Item

Slazenger "Standard" Vintage Lawn Tennis Posts. A great pair of Slazenger lawn tennis poles, very similar in style to Slazenger's bigger brother posts the "Stadium" Lawn Tennis Posts. The larger posts are the type seen at Wimbledon and are illustrated in the last two images which are taken from a 1916 Slazenger catalogue. The pair on offer here are Slazenger "Standard" Lawn Tennis posts. They too have cast iron bases but the poles are not detachable as in the "Stadium" posts. They have the same brass winding mechanism which requires the minimum amount of power to raise the net into position, pole with transfer 'CAUTION, be careful not to over wind'. The cast iron bases are cast with raised lettering 'Slazenger's Ltd. London Standard'. The wood on the poles in good solid condition with great patina and fitted with brass net hooks.
