Solheim Cup Matches U.S. Team Signed Pin Flag, USA 16 vs. EUROPE 12, Circa 2009
About the Item
Presented is an autographed collage celebrating the women golfers of the 2009 Solheim Cup U.S. team. The 11th Solheim Cup Matches were held August 21–23, 2009 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois. The biennial Solheim Cup matches are a three-day team competition for professional female golfers, pitting the 12 best players born in the United States against the 12 best players of European nationality.
This is a beautifully framed 2009 Solheim Cup piece, featuring the commemorative pin flag signed by the entire U.S. team, to include: U.S. Captain Beth Daniel, as well as Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Angela Stanford, Kristy McPherson, Nicole Castrale, Christina Kim, Brittany Lang, Morgan Pressel, Brittany Lincicome, Natalie Gulbis, Michelle Wie, and Juli Inkster.
In 2009, the United States claimed the Cup for the third consecutive time, winning 16–12. Entering the final day, the competition was tied at 8 points each, but the U.S. won eight of the dozen singles matches to retain the Solheim Cup.
CONDITION:
White pin flag, printed with three waving red stripes at upper hoist corner and a blue lower fly corner with four yellow stars. The Solheim Cup logo, match dates, and location are printed at center. Three brass grommets on the white hoist. Flag is signed by U.S. team members in various felt-tip ink pens, with black, blue, and red ink. SIgnatures are legible and have not bled or faded over time.
Flag is archivally presented mounted floating in a custom-built brushed gold frame, on dark linen mat, with a descriptive plaque at bottom center.
