Vintage 1960s David Nuuhiwa Lightweight Model Surfboard

About the Item

1967 Bing David Nuuhiwa light-weight model longboard shaped in 1967, serial #8375. Features a beautiful deep blue tinted bottom/wrapped rails with pinline, T band stringer, and glass-on single fin. A particularly short example of a Nuuhiwa lightweight model longboard as most were made 12-18" longer than this board. Most likely custom shaped for a woman or younger generation surfer. An all original example of an iconic model longboard of the 1960s. David Nuuhiwa, often referred to as the best surfer of the 1960's. Adept nose riding abilities and beautiful style led ?David Nuuhiwa to win the? ?United States Surfing Championships in ?1968? ?and? ?1971. Nuuhiwa was also runner-up in the World Surfing Championships of? ?1972.? Close friend of Jimi Hendrix in the early 70's, Nuuhiwa starred in “?Rainbow Bridge?”? with Hendrix. The film featured Jimi Hendrix playing music to clips of David surfing various breaks around the world.? ?
