Collection of Papier Mache Terrestrial Globes, c. 1880-1900
About the Item
The three largest globes were made by a leading Parisian cartographer, J. Forest. Mr Forest's globes were mainly produced for home and school use. He made a variety of globes ranging from table globes to floor globes, including novelty globes. His Paris address, 19 Rue de Buci, is still in existence today, however, you will find there an ice cream shop, with not a globe in sight! The text of these three globes is French.
The two medium globes are also in French, and one is signed by the French cartographer, G. Thomas, also of Paris. Lastly, to finish the collection, is a petite globe from Nuremberg and it's text is in English.
We are selling these globes individually, although they make a great collection. Prices range from $1900 to $3600. Heights range from 7" to 23". Please contact us for more specific information.
