About the Item

Art Deco Style Hand-Painted Three-Panel Folding Screen in Cobalt Blue and Gilt Tones Description: A striking hand-painted three-panel folding screen, crafted in bold Art Deco style. Each panel features a tall arched top and is richly decorated on the front with a geometric and stylized botanical motif in cream and metallic gold on a deep cobalt blue ground. The central panel includes an elegant urn with cascading fronds, while the flanking panels are adorned with graceful fish or dolphin-like forms that recall vintage mural and elevator door motifs from 1930s interiors. The reverse is finished in solid blue. The screen is hinged to allow for flexible positioning and folds flat for storage. Decorative flourishes—such as stepped borders, fluted fan shapes, honeycomb textures, and foliate scrolls—evoke the grandeur and glamour of Jazz Age design. Dimensions: Center panel: 90"h Side panels: 72"h Combined: 72"w x 1"d Condition: Good vintage condition with signs of wear appropriate to age and use. Some scuffs, touch-ups, and minor surface abrasions to painted areas, especially near hinge joints (see detail photos). Paint is largely intact and presents beautifully overall.
