20th Century Chinese Six-Panel Folding Screen

About the Item

This richly designed Chinese folding screen consists of 6 individual panels. It was made in the 2nd quarter of the 20th Century. One side has a black lacquered ground that unfolds a dark, quiet landscape of birds and foliage. The other side unfolds a fantastical scene of birds in flight, framed by a border of dragons. Overall dimensions when completely unfolded: 97 in. width 72 in. height Individual panel dimensions: 16 in. width 1.25 in. depth 72 in. height Condition notes: In good condition, with general surface wear consistent with the screen's age and use. Areas of loss to lacquer and craquelure to surface.
