Carved and Inlaid Shibayama Folding Screen, Japan, Meiji Era, circa 1890

About the Item

Folding creen with 2 panels in carved, inlaid and lacquered wood. The upper and lower parts are carved with birds and foliage / leaves. The central panels are inlaid on the front side (floral and animal marquetry) and painted on the back side (flowers). Shibayama style, Japan, Meiji era, around 1890. In used condition: wear, losses. Dimensions : Height 182cm Width 142 cm (1 panel = 71 cm) Depth 3cm
