French Chinoiserie Style Three Panel Harvest Screen
About the Item
Fascinating three-panel French folding screen decorated in the Chinoiserie revival style. The scene depicts a Mediterranean landscape with figures among fruit trees and a tent in the background. Painted in the Timurid art style with Chinese and Persian or middle eastern influence. Colorful pigments over a dramatic gilt background with an aged and distressed lacquer paint patina having a craquelure finish. Very unusual screen with a French modernist style. The back side has a red lacquer distressed finish.
