About

Nada Debs Summerland paravan/screen/room-divider in ashwood natural finish and straw natural wood. Part of Nada Debs Summerland collection. Inspired by vintage lounging, the Summerland collection is reminiscent of the heydays of Beirut, Lebanon. Midcentury design in Ash wood is crafted into furniture and accessories featuring woven straw. Pieces sit comfortably outdoors as they do indoors due to the sturdy nature of straw, which has been continuously used since ancient times with very little change in technique. Condition: Brand New Production lead time: 6-8 weeks, can be picked up from store or shipped. Color: Light brown / Natural Material: Ash wood natural finish / Straw About the designer: Nada Debs, of Lebanese origin, was raised in Japan. She studied interior architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States, starting her first company in the UK, designing and producing custom furniture. After a 40 year hiatus, Nada Debs’ Levantine spirit brought her home to Beirut, where she discovered that designs for modern Middle Eastern furniture were non-existent. She then established her company East & East, where the brand fuses Eastern tradition and minimalism. Her multicultural approach attracted the attention of the design world.

About the Designer

Nada Debs

A native of Lebanon, Nada Debs grew up in Japan and studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. Today, she lives and works in Beirut, where she leads a team of 20 people and works across disciplines, from product and furniture design to craft, art, fashion and interiors.

“My aim has always been to start with traditional techniques and skills and then inject a bit of life and fun into them by taking a more contemporary approach,” Debs says. “Ultimately, my brand is about reinventing craft and placing it within a modern context. I strive not only to preserve traditional craftsmanship but also to widen design boundaries while continuing to preserve inherent core values. I refer to this process as ‘handmade, heartmade.’”
