19th Century Travel Trunk by Innovation

About the Item

19th century travel trunk by Innovation Innovation is a well known American company which specialised in luxury travel wardrobes and suitcases, they had a shop on Les Champs Elysées in Paris up to the end of the 1960s, this piece was patented on 28th December 1880  This trunk is made in metal and was designed for long hall travel, the outer metal has a ribbed effect simulating a softer fabric like leather The trunk is cubic, on lifting the main lid a lidded compartment is revealed, this is removable and opens revealing storage compartments for shoes etc. The main body of the trunk also lifts out this is made from webbing This is a top quality piece many of the fittings are in leather and brass all of course stamped innovation with the trademark triangle visible on every possible surface The trunk is good and sound but does show signs of a busy life, on the outside it has a few dings and dents and many shipping labels but the leather handles are still strong Measures: The box is 25” wide, 25” deep and 25” high TSH145.
