Coat Rack Sculptural Modern Spherical Geometric Handmade Carved Blackened Steel

About the Item

COAT RACK J.M. Szymanski d. 2017 This unique coat stand is contemporary sculpture. A solid cast sphere supports a slender stand, which can hold between 5-8 coats on it. Made in the Bronx, New York, USA. Our products are fabricated and finished by hand, so variations in size, shape, and patina color are a natural result of this process. Tooling marks and surface scratches are part of the character of many finished pieces. All products are sealed with oil and wax, which, over time, are not impervious to moisture. Our blackened steel pieces installed outside or in areas exposed to moisture indoors, especially in marine environments, will rust. Condensation from hot and cold drinks will leave rings on blackened steel table tops. Coasters or placemats can protect the finish. Periodic maintenance of blackened steel items may be required.

The development of the final form appears slowly through the making process and also depends on the wood – its appearance and texture can vary, making each piece unique. With all joints of the coat rack left visible, Sho Ota brings back the pleasure of contemplating real wood. With his design objects, Sho seeks to find an alternative to industrially - flattened wood and instead encourages us to discover the imperfection of this natural material. • Small Early 1900s Renaissance Revival Wall Coat Rack with Carved Mask Sculptures
    Located in Lisse, NL
Antique oak wall coat rack with incredibly well carved head sculptures. This marvelous antique Dutch coat rack is special, practical and highly decorative. It is special, because of the quality of the unique carvings and its excellent condition. It is very practical, because of its small size, its strong brass metal hooks and the ease with which it can be mounted on your wall (via a pair of strong metal hooks on the back). It is highly decorative, because of the wonderfully hand carved details in the Renaissance Style including the three head sculptures. Especially these Renaissance heads with their characteristic hairdo, hats and colars are carved with marvelous detail. This can only be the work of a master carver and the beautiful patina on this antique work of beauty also is second to none. The handcrafted, brass, Gothic design coat hooks...

  • Antique Wall / Corner Coat Rack w Carved Rams & Embossed Leather by M.J. Slager
    Located in Lisse, NL
Unique and highly decorative, work of art coat rack. When we find an antique that is this good in terms of its design AND in terms of the quality of the workmanship then the first thing we do is to look for a signature. And we were really (and pleasantly) surprised to find the signature of MJ Slager in the far right, bottom corner. Only once before have we seen and owned and sold another stunning antique by this highly skilled artist. And when you realize that there have never been any other pieces of this artist available on the internet anywhere (apart from the stunning folding screen that we sold via 1stdibs and that you can see in image 19 of this listing) then you will understand how special it was for us that this coat rack by MJ Slager too landed on our path. Thinking of the odds of this happening, we can only describe it as a blessing. Like we described in that previous listing: when you look at the beauty, the detail and the overal workmanship it is unbelievable that such a skilled artist did not go on and have a bigger career. As more often has been the case here in Holland, maybe the first world war had something to do with it. So this antique coat rack is unique for more reasons than one, but one of them is the design. Antique corner coat racks...
