Large Antique Black Forest Wall Coat Rack w. Hand Carved Basket of Flowers 1890s

About the Item

Rare, late 1800s, solid oak, handcarved, Black Forest wall coat rack. Only very rarely will you come across an antique that is as good and original as this large size, work of art coat rack. All handcrafted in the late 1800s, a coat rack of this size and beauty would only have been affordable for the wealthiest in Europe. Also, because only the entry hall of a large European mansion would have had the space in which this extra large coat rack would have the chance to shine. The stunning upper part of this antique work of beauty depicts a hand carved woven basket filled with Black Forest flowers and Black Forest 'fruits' such as pinecones. The solid oak that was chosen to create this unique wall coat rack over the years has grown a marvelous patina which has made this antique even more impressive and attractive. Have you also noticed the organically designed and very practical coat hooks? There are as many as nine, they are all original and they are as mint as the day this piece left the artisan's studio, well over 100 years ago. Thanks to a pair of strong metal hooks on the back this large size wall coat rack is easy and safely mounted on your wall in just a few minutes. Mind you our price for this extra large, superb condition and highly practical antique coat rack includes perfect packing and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. • Rare Antique Black Forest Carved Tree Shaped Coat Rack, Umbrella Hall Stand Tree
    By Matthijs Horrix
    Located in Lisse, NL
Stunning black forest entrance furniture. Imagine coming home to this work of art after a tough day at the office. This 19th century work of art will make you feel right back home. In order to understand and enjoy this kind of beauty, you have to see it. You have to see the design that was beforehand, see the craftsman that gave his all, see the natural and beautiful materials he used, see the detail of his work and see what inspired him to make this artistic piece. Once you see it in that way, you will truly love this antique and you will appreciate it for it's unmistakeble quality, beauty and for what it radiates. Pictures may say more than a thousand words, but standing next to and using this antique is what really makes the difference Although it is not marked, we are certain that this eyecatcher is made by Horrix of the Hague. They were the true and internationally respected Dutch makers of top quality Black Forest style masterpieces. This coat rack is no exception. The beautifully carved walnut branches covered with leafs seem to have naturally grown over the oval mirror in the middle. The mirror, by the way, is purposely covered in soap so there are no reflections that could distract. The base section comes with the original iron, barley twisted ring looking like rope. This ring obviously serves as the umbrella holder above the removable zinc drip pan. This stand is also perfect for holding walking sticks or even rifles. The rim around the zinc pan is again beautifully carved in the shape of a woven basket. Finally, the top section around the central mirror comes with a total of 8 practical and perfectly carved hangers...

Beautiful XXL size, handcarved wall coat rack with an angel sculpture and more. This latest amazing find dates from the earliest years of the 1900s and if its size does not make it impressive then its condition certainly will. This remarkable, almost 7 feet wide antique is one of the largest wall coat racks we ever had the pleasure of offering. Besides super wide (or long) it also is over an inch thick on all sides and on top of that it is entirely hand-crafted out of solid tiger oak. More Renaissance Style motifs like the scrolling accanthus leafs and the bird sculptures next to the horns of plenty make it even more attractive and meaningful. The combination of the finely carved motifs, the rare design, the wonderful and warm patina of the tiger oak and the beautifully shaped and original oak hooks...
