Very Rare Antique Oak Wall Coat Rack w. Acrobatic Jester Figure Hooks, Great Fun

About the Item

Unique and highly decorative wall coat rack with at least ten hooks. One of the main reasons for people wanting to own antiques is for their decorative appeal and this hand-crafted work-of-art wall rack certainly fits that bill. This good condition wall coat-rack with the finest quality cast iron wall hooks depicts three fun loving jesters giving acrobatic performances. The legs of the center jester in his daring position also make up two of the ten hooks in this antique. The two outer jesters too are performing a balancing act and the pieces that they have balancing on their heads can actually be used as the hat holders in this Victorian era antique. A clearly skilled artisan managed to very well capture the posture, the anatomy and the funny facial features of jesters, which makes this antique an absolute joy to own and look at. At the same time this is a highly practical, relatively large and strong wall coat rack. With its good size this one of a kind wall rack can be used for all kinds of purposes. You could use it for hanging clothes, towels, keys, whips or hats and this rare antique could look perfect in your hallway, in your home office or library etc. No matter what you decide to use this sculptural rack for and no matter where you decide to have it on display, this antique will never fail to impress and it will bring joy every time you use and look at it. The two thick and strong iron hooks on the back (as shown in one of our images) also make it easy to safely mount this grant coat rack. The entire look and feel is simply amazing and this antique reveils the skills of the artisans whom created this marvel of meaningful home decoration. This figural wall rack definitely is great value for money. Also, because perfect packing (in a custom made box) and delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days are complimentary. No matter where you live on our beautiful planet. Maximum height x width x depth: 47.5 x 16.5 x 13.2 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).

  • Antique Arts & Crafts Wall Coat Rack w. Inlaid Komodo Dragon & Ancient Fish
    Located in Lisse, NL
One of a kind coatrack with inlaid geometrical patterns and unique animal 'sculptures'. With the Arts & Crafts era being one of our favourites, we are always thrilled to find antiques from that era. Especially ones that we have never seen before and that we never expect to see again. We could not be more thrilled to find this unique and pure Dutch Arts and Crafts coat rack and the fact that it is in such amazing condition made us even happier. Finding top quality antiques in this incredibly condition is getting ever harder. This large size but undeep coat rack has an amazing patina, it comes with a set of four perfect brass hooks and several smaller ones as well. They all have the perfect patina and the circular mirror too is the original one and certainly in good enough condtion for you to check your good looks before leaving. However, what makes this remarkable Arts and Crafts work of beauty stand out from anything we ever saw is the combination of geometrical inlays and the unique animal 'sculptures'. Around the turn of the century (so between 1890 and 1910) many Europeans first started to learn about exotic animals in countries far away. The artisan whom created this work of art coat rack must have heard about or seen a first photo of a komodo dragon...

  • Antique Wall / Corner Coat Rack w Carved Rams & Embossed Leather by M.J. Slager
    Located in Lisse, NL
Unique and highly decorative, work of art coat rack. When we find an antique that is this good in terms of its design AND in terms of the quality of the workmanship then the first thing we do is to look for a signature. And we were really (and pleasantly) surprised to find the signature of MJ Slager in the far right, bottom corner. Only once before have we seen and owned and sold another stunning antique by this highly skilled artist. And when you realize that there have never been any other pieces of this artist available on the internet anywhere (apart from the stunning folding screen that we sold via 1stdibs and that you can see in image 19 of this listing) then you will understand how special it was for us that this coat rack by MJ Slager too landed on our path. Thinking of the odds of this happening, we can only describe it as a blessing. Like we described in that previous listing: when you look at the beauty, the detail and the overal workmanship it is unbelievable that such a skilled artist did not go on and have a bigger career. As more often has been the case here in Holland, maybe the first world war had something to do with it. So this antique coat rack is unique for more reasons than one, but one of them is the design. Antique corner coat racks...

  • Sculptural Beechwood Functional Coat Rack Surfaced by Sho Ota
    By Sho Ota
    Located in Amsterdam, NL
At the intersection of industrial design and craftsmanship, Sho's sculptural works are both minimalistic and multi-layered. Every piece of collectible design is handmade by Sho himself. The development of the final form appears slowly through the making process and also depends on the wood – its appearance and texture can vary, making each piece unique. With all joints of the coat rack left visible, Sho Ota brings back the pleasure of contemplating real wood. With his design objects, Sho seeks to find an alternative to industrially - flattened wood and instead encourages us to discover the imperfection of this natural material. Sho Ota's special sence of color gives this wooden functional sculpture...
