This is an antique Canterbury Whatnot. An English, burr walnut and brass three tier display stand or etagere, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820. Exceptional example, with stunning colour and figuring Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Select burr walnut stocks present superb grain interest Dashing, rich caramel hues enhance every surface Arranged across three generous tiers - ideal for display use Upper tier accentuated with delightful brass gallery rails Lower tier offers a trio of newspaper or sheet music segments Striking X-form divisions create a strong visual appeal Wide drawer to the base, dressed with a pair of wooden pulls Mahogany drawer box as beautifully crafted as the stand Standing upon a quartet of tapering legs with turned collars The whole riding smoothly upon brass castors This is a superb antique Canterbury Whatnot, with delightful colour and exceptional figuring.
