Classical NY Empire Mahogany Lyre Form, Canterbury, circa 1820

About the Item

A fine classical Empire Canterbury, featuring heavily carved lyre ends with rosettes and brass strings, with nicely shaped stretchers above a crotched mahogany veneered case fitted with one long drawer and one false drawer facade all raised by four brass casters. Probably New York in origin, dating to circa 1820 in very good condition, with some base restorations, old repairs, and surface edge losses and wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 21.5 in H x 15.75 in W x 19.38 in D.
