Top quality crafted antique hallway stand, possibly made in Switzerland. This mid 1900s masterpiece may have been created by a Swiss craftsman, because that is where we were given the opportunity to purchase it. Even though we don't understand the (deeper) meaning of the unique, leather belt-like carvings around this one of a kind antique, somehow they are extremely appealing to the eye and because of the quality of the workmanship this umbrella or stick stand truly is a joy to own, to use and to look at. To have been able to duplicate a leather-like belt out of wood and perfectly curve it around the solid wooden base clearly is the work of a highly creative and skillfull artisan. For this wooden with copper interior hall stand to still be in such amazing condition is like a tribute to the skill of this artisan. For now, the artisan remains nameless, but he or she did imprint a number and, what looks like, the letter a imprinted in the solid wooden underside. It also stands as strong and stable as the day it was handcrafted all those years ago.
