Original Cenedese Umbrella Stand in Red and Green Cased Murano Glass Italy 1990s.
Entirely handcrafted in the 1990s in the Venetian island of Murano, famous for its unrivalled blown glass tradition, this effervescent umbrella stand is an original production of the renowned Italian glassmaker Cenedese. The authenticity of the item is certified by the hand-carved signature of the artist on its bottom and by the sticker “Murano Cenedese Vetri” on the upper edge of the umbrella stand.
In bright red and green Murano glass, this umbrella stand is produced according to the complex technique of the so-called “cased glass”, which is a working technique used in Murano mainly between the 19th and 20th centuries, but still in use. This technique permits to obtain in the same object two or more overlapping layers of glass of different colors, creating evocative colour effects, as it is the case of this umbrella stand, in which the outside is of shiny red while the inside is green.
