About the Item

Rare antique French champlevé enamel holy water font Christ porcelain painting. This fabulous French holy water Font was made during the reign of last French Emperor Napoléon III. The enamel work is magnificent using gorgeous turquoise blue, royal blue, burgundy, dark blue, yellow, green, white. This features the finest Champlevé enamel work on white marble, mounted onto a bronze backing with hanging loop in back. Below is the matching champlevé bowl which still has the original lid, and enamel inside as well. Even rarer is the center of this piece: A rare hand-painted porcelain of Jesus Christ. Measures: 7"2 x 4"7 (18.3 cm x 12 cm). Weight: 581 grams. This piece is in very good antique condition. Some loss of enamel on the underside of holy water and one micro chip on the edge of the marble. Nothing serious.
