Maharam Throw
Drenthe Heath by Claudy Jongstra
006 salt
Named for the species shorn to create it, Drenthe Heath is a handmade felt by Dutch textile artist, Claudy Jongstra, who maintains a herd of sheep in the Dutch countryside along with a botanical garden of natural dyestuffs. Unlike the uniform surface of traditional felts, Jongstra’s creations explode with textural interest, revealing their elemental origins. Drenthe Heath presents raw tufts of fleece mingled with a lustrous wool/silk face, creating an unfinished aesthetic that juxtaposes ancient and modern.
Founded in 1902, Maharam offers a comprehensive collection of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Maharam pillows feature celebrated textile designs from the twentieth and 21st centuries, from re-editions of the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and Verner Panton to recent collaborations with Hella Jongerius, Paul Smith, Scholten & Baijings, and Studio Job.
Claudy Jongstra (b. 1963, the Netherlands) is a Dutch textile artist committed to preserving traditional skills, utilizing local resources, and promoting environmental stewardship. Trained as a fashion designer, Jongstra graduated from the Academy of Art in Utrecht in 1989 and soon established her own design studio. Since 1994, she creates art pieces and architectural installations of hand-felted and woven natural fibers.

Maarten Vrolijk, Blooming Terra Textile MVT19001, NL
By Maarten Vrolijk
Located in New York, NY
Amsterdam-based artist and designer Maarten Vrolijk believes that art should make people’s everyday lives more beautiful through the many little details that evoke the unexpected. While strongly influenced by the natural world, Vrolijk is not on a quest to expose an imitation of the “real” world, but rather, is on an exploration of the simple, unequivocal, and often overlooked aspects: color, form, delicacy, strength, transparency, ephemerality, that provide a map to the fascinations we gravitate to when experiencing the world around us.
Vrolijk’s works have been collected and exhibited in several renowned international museums including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Museum of Modern Art, New York and the Groninger Museum. Todd Merrill Studio...
