Rare Antique Black Forest Carved Tree Shaped Coat Rack, Umbrella Hall Stand Tree

About the Item

Stunning black forest entrance furniture. Imagine coming home to this work of art after a tough day at the office. This 19th century work of art will make you feel right back home. In order to understand and enjoy this kind of beauty, you have to see it. You have to see the design that was beforehand, see the craftsman that gave his all, see the natural and beautiful materials he used, see the detail of his work and see what inspired him to make this artistic piece. Once you see it in that way, you will truly love this antique and you will appreciate it for it's unmistakeble quality, beauty and for what it radiates. Pictures may say more than a thousand words, but standing next to and using this antique is what really makes the difference Although it is not marked, we are certain that this eyecatcher is made by Horrix of the Hague. They were the true and internationally respected Dutch makers of top quality Black Forest style masterpieces. This coat rack is no exception. The beautifully carved walnut branches covered with leafs seem to have naturally grown over the oval mirror in the middle. The mirror, by the way, is purposely covered in soap so there are no reflections that could distract. The base section comes with the original iron, barley twisted ring looking like rope. This ring obviously serves as the umbrella holder above the removable zinc drip pan. This stand is also perfect for holding walking sticks or even rifles. The rim around the zinc pan is again beautifully carved in the shape of a woven basket. Finally, the top section around the central mirror comes with a total of 8 practical and perfectly carved hangers and they will hold multiple coats and hats. Mind you, our fair price for these unique and antique rare standing coat-rack even includes perfect packing (in a custom made box or crate) and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days. Maximum height x width x depth: 74 x 36 x 12 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. All purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings on 1stdibs by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.

  • Black Forest Style Hall Umbrella Stand or Garden Bear Sculpture in Cast Concrete
    Located in Lisse, NL
Never seen before, concrete Black Forest style umbrella stand. This is another one of our recent rare and great finds. We were given 1stdibs in buying several unique antiques and works of art from a lady who had to move to a smaller home due to old age. This concrete Black Forest Style bear was purchased 26 years ago from an antique dealer in the east of Holland (by her late husband) and it had been in their hallway ever since. Since we have never seen a concrete Black Forest bear before, we have no idea about the exact age. What we can see, is that the original bear stand was beautifully carved. Why someone took the time and effort to make a mold (which is very time consuming and often costly) and then only make one cast in concrete copy, is a mystery to us. However, we are pleased by that also, because that would make this old (or maybe even antique) concrete bear...

  • Superb Arts & Crafts Hand Forged Wrought Iron Hall Coat Rack and Umbrella Stand
    Located in Lisse, NL
Incredible workmanship antique coat rack & stick stand. Over the years we have seen and sold a number of unique and top quality antiques made of wrought iron, but this is by far the best we have ever seen. The Arts & Crafts design of this large and incredibly stylish hallway coat rack really is breath taking. Both design wise and in terms of the quality of the workmanship this simply is a work of art. The quality of the 'blacksmithing' is so good that we first did not understand what we were looking at, because it is almost too good. The precision with which the hand forged details are made and the cleanness of the surface and the perfection of the connections, we have never seen anything like this. We even contemplated that this could be a replica. However, when looking at the wear to the base, the antique nuts and the antique wooden casters...
