Oversized Antique Indian Agra Rug, Hotel Lobby Size Carpet
Located in Dallas, TX
77150 Antique Indian Agra Rug 15'02 x 24'04. Reflecting Persian carpet elements from the 16th century, this hand-knotted wool antique Indian Agra rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The eye-catching Dragon and Phoenix design and refined color palette woven into this oversized Indian carpet work together creating a truly unique look. The abrashed field features a lozenge lattice composed of cusped cartouche medallions. A dense allover botanical pattern composed of undulating cloudbands, birds, curled tendrils, elegant palmettes, and floral sprays spreads across the field. Elegantly framing the composition is a cartouche border pulling together colors from throughout into a unified, harmonious design.
Though deceptively simple with a esoteric appeal, this antique Agra rug is steeped in tradition. This ensemble of the phoenix and dragon, when appearing together, represents the yin and yang, while each of the carry its own meaning in Chinese culture. The phoenix and the dragon first came to Iran (Persia) with the Mongols and seen as symbols of the benign power of the Chinese Emperor and Empress from the Ming dynasty. The striking play of pattern and scale imbues this hotel lobby size carpet with immense visual interest and graphic appeal.
Perfect for a large entertaining space, hotel lobby, lounge area, drawing room, country club, academic library, golf locker room, trophy room, private Chambers, great room, wine cellar, executive suite, conservatory, state room, royal suite, billiards room, owners retreat, dining room, living room, or formal sitting room. Charming our eyes with its rustic appearance, this old Indian wooden low chair from the early 20th century captures the essence of traditional craftsmanship. The low seat features a handwoven rope, providing a comfortable and authentic touch. The chair's back is short and slightly slanted, adorned with three rosettes hand-carved in low relief within medallions. Coffre Chest in White Bronze Clad over Wood by Stephanie Odegard
By Stephanie Odegard Collection
Located in New York, NY
Inspired by the classic coffered, hand-tooled metal-clad furniture of the opulent Mughal period. This elegant furniture is hand made from solid pieces of teak that are joined into a repeating pattern of panels enclosed by raised moldings. Pattern makers then trace and cut the complex forms that will cover the work piece with thick sheets of white bronze. The metal sheets are then hand-hammered and embossed with intricate tradition raised decoration before being attached and covering the entire outside surface of the piece.
Brass, white bronze, antiqued bronze, silver and copper are the available options for the metal skin. Both silver and copper will tarnish over time. Regular non-abrasive household metal polishes can be used to restore the original finish.
