A Very Fine George II Combination Sugar Bowl/Spoon Tray Made in London in 1753 by Samuel Taylor The Bowl stands on a circular spreading foot which is decorated with reeding. The main body is plain in design with an attractive baluster form and is engraved with a contemporary "Lion Rampant" Crest. The sides then rise to an everted rim. The stepped pull off cover has a finely beaded rim and rises to a circular raised central section, which doubles as the foot of the tray, when in use. The Bowl is fully marked in the foot and with the maker's mark and sterling mark on the cover. This piece is in excellent condition, with a good colour. Samuel Taylor was a specialist maker of Tea Caddies and Sugar Bowls and was apprentice to the Caddy maker John Newton. He had workshops in Maiden Lane, Wood...

Chinese Export Porcelain Bacchus Mug After Derby Porcelain, Circa 1785. The Chinese Export porcelain mug is modeled after a Derby porcelain original as the head of Bacchus, the face naturalistically & delicately enameled. The eyebrows, beard and hair picked out with lightly etched brown lines. Around his head is a garland of vine leaves enameled in green, the veins of the leaves well delineated in grey, the bunches of grapes in a rich purple. The "C" shaped handle is decorated with stylized vine leaves, the sides of the thick handle with gold lappets. Dimensions: 4 inches high x 5 1/4 inches wide x 3 1/2 inches deep Reference This type of mug was copied directly from a Derby original that dates to around 1780-1785 and was created by William Duesbury II (1763-97) when the company was known as William Duesbury & Co. A Very Fine William III Britannia Standard Mug Made in London in 1699 by Thomas Parr I The Mug has a slightly tapering "Can" shaped form and stands on a spreading reeded foot. The lower half of the main body is decorated with raised vertical flutes. The upper section displays a horizontal girdle flanked by semi-circular motifs and an upper band of punched foliate motifs. This fine piece has a slightly everted reeded rim and a scroll reeded handle. The Mug is of a very good weight and gauge and is fully marked on the side of the main body in the patterning. Thomas Parr made very fine mugs. His first mark was entered in 1697, therefore this represents an early example of his work. He was working from premises in Wood Street...
