Antique Pair of Heybe 'Saddle Bags'

About the Item

Antique pair of heybe (saddle bags) from the Bergama region of Western Anatolia (Turkey). This complete pair of saddle bags are in near perfect condition, the piled faces have a large star design. An outstanding feature is the stripped flat woven backs decorated with bands of weft work. The bags have excellent colour including a pleasing soft yellow. Excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile. Hand washed and ready for display. Additional information: Age: Circa 1900 Size: 4ft 8in x 1ft 6in (142 x 46cm).
