Rug in Premium New Zealand Wool and Silk, "Damasco" Open Edition

About the Item

This is an open edition art rug, made of premium New Zealand wool and silk, woven by Odabashian's network of family-owned weavers near Mirzapur, India. The design was created by Mexican industrial designer Manuel Alvarez Fuentes for the 2011 exhibition "Tapetes, Tejiendo Historias" at the Franz Meyer Museum in Mexico City. Head of DiCorp in Queretaro, Mexico. He Studied industrial design at the Universidad Iberoamericana. In 97 he got his master’s degree in design from the Royal College of Art, in London, England. He was director of the design department of the Universidad Iberoamericana. He is a founding member of the Colegio de Diseñadores Industriales y Graficos’ (School of Industrial and graphic Designers). He has coordinated several international design workshops in Mexico city, Argentina, Chile, South Korea, Cuba and Lebanon. He is a board member of the ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) for Mexico and Latin America, Braun Prize jury member from 2005-2007, Jury member of the IV Biennale of Utilitarian Ceramic at the Franz Mayer Museum May 2008, as well as the RED DOT design fair in Berlin in 2009 and 2010.
