Antique Caucasian Lankoran Rug Runner circa 1920 3’8x8’

About the Item

A very pleasing antique Caucasian runner belonging to a distinctive group of Talish rugs named after the south-east coastal town of Lenkoran.These rugs are distinguished primarily by their design, which consist of large horned medallions on the vertical axis,in case of this particular rug two of them which are woven with variety of colors such as pale orange,ivory,brown and light green on a indigo blue field.there is star kazak type medallion in the same color pallet in between these two medallions.The rug is framed with an ivory main border and guard border one in pale orange and the other in brown. This rug is in good condition with evenly low pile and wear throughout consistent with its age and use. The quality of the wool is great and knot count is high.All dyes are organic and sides and ends and original.The estimated time to hand make this rug is about 1250 hours.
