Antique Caucasian Kazak Rug, circa 1900s

About the Item

Although coarse like a typical Caucasian Kazak, the design is derived from east Caucasian Shirvan rugs with its elongated head and foot panel enclosing octogons in ivory and straw. The abrashed teal ground is particularly attractive and is adorned with stars-in-octagons, animals and nested boxes. The ivory border shows connected angular knots.
