Japanese Sakiori Rug
About the Item
Sakiori is a traditional Japanese painstaking technique of rag weaving utilizing strips of salvages kimono, futon covers and other fabric.
Nothing goes to waste. ]
This incredible rug is double sided for an added weight. An absolutely stunning example of stitching and weaving.
The use of colour in between ranging colour harmonies and beautifully sun faded indigo border is something I have not seen before in this style. It more resembles something of a painting than something your feet stand on. The work really speaks for itself - meaning that it doesn’t require any romanticizing or added dictation to justify its value.

View All19th Century Japanese Lava Stone Mask
Located in Vancouver, BC
A sculpture of great presence. It’s difficult to say when this work was created, but judging by the erosion of the stone - and the delicate nature and almost mold like features of the lips, nose and eyebrows, it’s safe to suggest that this has been around for a very long time.
I sourced this from a small area north of Tokyo which leads me to believe this is Black Fuji Stone. The distinct formed and structured Japanese Fuji...
