Japanese Sakiori Rug

About the Item

Sakiori is a traditional Japanese painstaking technique of rag weaving utilizing strips of salvages kimono, futon covers and other fabric. Nothing goes to waste. ] This incredible rug is double sided for an added weight. An absolutely stunning example of stitching and weaving. The use of colour in between ranging colour harmonies and beautifully sun faded indigo border is something I have not seen before in this style. It more resembles something of a painting than something your feet stand on. The work really speaks for itself - meaning that it doesn’t require any romanticizing or added dictation to justify its value.
