Vintage Moroccan wool rug - Orange - 6.5x10.5feet / 198x320cm

About the Item

I am not sure about the tribe to be honest (Rehamna, Boujad?) but I truly fell in love with that artistic one, so special. This vintage moroccan rug was an immediate "yes", as I have never seen something like this before! Shows a 70s vibe with its great, abstract composition, colors and fluffy texture. Main color is a bright orange, with black, white, blue, yellow, green, brown rectangle designs, like confetti all over the rug! Approximate dimensions are 5.9 to 6.5x10.5feet / 180 to 198x320cm : due to the handmade weaving technique, the rug is not perfectly rectangle but slightly larger on one ending, as you can probably see on the main shot. The rug has not been cut and is in its original shape.

This beautiful vintage Boujad rug is a collector rug! It shows bright colors and a great, unregular composition that goes from a busy series of stars at one ending to one single "key" design on the opposite ending, where the tassels are. The whole rug is so vibrant with pops of orange, cream, pink, black and green over a main purple background and large diamond pattern. This handmade rug definitely is a unique piece of berber art...

This beautiful vintage handwoven Moroccan Berber rug is circa mid-20th century. It features a symmetrical banded geometric design infused with tribal symbolism in gorgeous shades of orange, red, pink, green, gray, brown and cream with gray fringe to both ends and tufts of decorative side fringe. The timeless design of this unique rug will complement any style of contemporary decor, from mid century modern and southwest to boho and global. Moroccan Berber rugs are handwoven by women artisans from the Berber tribes of the Atlas mountains of Morocco. Berber tribal rugs are one-of-a-kind pieces, woven from naturally dyed and undyed sheep’s wool. Lacking a written language, ancient Berber weavers would incorporate ancestral myths into their textiles using abstract images and symbols. This magic symbolism and a minimalist design give these Berber carpets their unique and timeless appeal.
