A Navajo saddle blanket in banded design with beautiful natural earth tone colors including red, brown, caramel set on a taupe background separated by narrow bands from the mid 1900s.. The design of this Navajo rug resembles the design of the Navajo Corn Husk bags. Navajo rugs can easily be used on the floor or used as wall art.
Navajo rugs are generally flat woven with wool for the body of the rug and usually cotton foundation. Navajo weavers use natural organic dyes that are available around their tribal land. The Navajo rugs have geometric designs and the design and symbols have religious and cultural meanings.

Beautiful vintage oversized South American kilim in a banded stripes design with brilliant stripes in colors of Blue, red, green, black, orange and magenta. The kilim has an extremely fine weave and a very high quality handspun wool that was hand dyed with natural vegetable dyes. The rug is made of two individual kilims that were separately weaved and then sewn together. The kilim is a large size ideal to be used as a room rug or a gallery rug.

Chéticamp is a rural community in Cape Breton Nova Scotia settled by French Acadians in the late 18th century after their expulsion by the British from the traditional land of the Mi'kmaq People.
Rug hooking in early colonial times was an industrious and creative use scrap wool and burlap from feed sacks to create much needed rugs for warmth on beds and floors during the northeast coastal winters. Vintage Navajo Rug in a Banded Pattern in Burgundy, Gray, Ivory, Taupe, Brown

Vintage Navajo area rug with a very fine weave in a banded and stripe pattern with natural earth tones including gray, ivory, black, and caramel from the 3rd quarter of the 1900s. The rug contains major bands with geometric design in burgundy and gray set in a taupe color background separated with plain bands in caramel and pale yellow bands. Navajo weavers use natural organic dyes that are available around their tribal land. Although the rug can be used on the floor, it would bring a wonderful design if displayed on the wall. The Navajo rugs are often used as tapestry wall art.
