19th Century Lavar Kerman Rug with Gold, Sand- and Camel-Colored Tones
About the Item
This magnificent antique Kerman carpet from the third quarter of 19th century is an absolutely stunning achievement of Persian craftsmanship and design. It was expertly woven in the south eastern Persian city of Lavar and draws heavily from nature for inspiration and influence in its Traditional Design. At the heart of the rug lies an ornate central medallion, which is flanked by multiple borders of complementary complexity. The piece's sand- and camel-colored tones are unique and imbue the piece with old-world charm.

19th Century Persian Kerman Lavar Runner
Located in Barrington, IL
This exquisite Lavar Kerman runner from the late 1800s is a true rarity—both in format and artistry. Lavar Kerman rugs, renowned for their refined floral designs and exceptional craftsmanship, are seldom found in runner form, making this piece exceptionally desirable.
The allover floral pattern is rendered in a sophisticated palette of French blue, soft pink, ivory, and rich red, gracefully woven into a field of timeless elegance. Perhaps the most unique feature is the exquisite border: a flowing arrangement of vibrant red flower bouquets set against an unusually rare green background—creating a stunning visual contrast and a harmonious frame for the composition.
Woven in southern Persia in the historic city of Kerman—a major cultural and artistic center along the ancient Silk Road—this runner is not only a work of textile mastery but also a piece of living history. Its delicacy, balance, and palette reflect the artistic spirit of a region long celebrated for its contribution to Persian rug weaving.
