About the Item

A 19th century hand-woven Persian Bakhtiari Bibibaft in vase pattern in a pale yellow with red border and French blue corners,. A truly magnificent masterpiece in design and fine weaving from the Bakhtiari tribes of western Persia from the 4th quarter of the 1800s. The theme of the vase design is also referred to as the "Garden of Paradise" in this beautiful 150-year-old rug. The weave in this rug is extremely tight and is referred to as "Bibibaft (Grandmother's Weave)". This is one of the most sought-after designs in the Bakhtiari rugs. The design includes the vase and the birds on the tree branches. The range of colors resulting from the use of natural vegetable dyes results in a beautiful palate of wonderful colors including green, blue, yellow, and red. brown, and pink. Finally, the near square size of this tribal masterpiece makes this rug even more desirable and collectible.
