Gorgeous 40's Persian Lori, Nomadic Persian Rug
4' 6" x 8' 8"
Incredible antique created by the legendary nomadic tribe of Persia the Lores. The Lores are one of the most ancient groups of people who's history dates back to ancient Mesopotamia. These artisans are known for bold geometric designs, complimented by their selective use of colors. Works of this tribe are highly sought after, especially more uncommon designs such as this.
Comprised entirely of Persian wool, that was raised, sheared, dyed, spun, and woven by a member of the Lori tribe, while trekking across the country. Due to the Lore's ancient weaving style and masterful technique, these pieces survive the test of time and last for generations.
The design of this rug is fairly unique for this tribe. Its medallions are very reminiscent of those used by The Qashqais- another ancient rug weaving tribe. The rusty oranges, shades of blue and black all work harmoniously to make the details in this rug stand out. A piece like this would be great on lighter floors, and it's classic design allows it to pair easily with any theme of decor.
This piece is beautifully aged, and despite being almost 100 years old it can still last another 100. Age has altered the colors of this Piece, what was once deep green is now closer to a dark teal. It was not until after the 40's that green dyes became stable, those greens start to fade to deep teal color. The already fine wool has softened with age giving it more sheen making this piece radiant despite its deep colors.
This piece, like the rest of our collection, was hand-picked by Persian Rug expert and Shiraz native, Jason Dadras. Each piece was acquired through the relationships he forged around the world. Our rugs are ethically sourced and have been legally imported.
