Antique Persian Serapi, circa 1910
About the Item
This carpet is hand woven in the northwest region of Persia in Heriz/Serapi town. Serapi carpets have a cotton warp and double-cotton weft. The wool used to make this rug is hand spun and of high quality, the dyes are all organic extracted from natural elements.
The details of this Serapi has a palette that is still wonderfully clear and fresh. The bold design is handsomely adorned with many geometric devices, yet the field is never crowded. Unlike other Serapi, this one is relatively finely woven. There are no restorations on this carpet and is otherwise in excellent condition.
