About the Item
Intricate Tree of Life design motif with double column at either side of the main field. Top mehrab overlay with scrolling vines and arabesques. Delicate vines, finely delineated tendrils, colorful palmettes, pomegranates, and oversized scrolled leaves sprawl across the main field. Qajar era weaving exemplifying one of the most sophisticated forms of piled and plain weave workmanship featuring the rare and highly coveted green ground made of the finest available silks and natural dyes. Colors and shades include: Jade green, cochineal red, beige, sand, sapphire blue, pomegranate red, blush, sky blue, powder blue, lime green, pale tangerine orange, gold, and more. Condition notes: Weave across in original condition. Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or restored. Secure sides, fully secured ends. Original plain weave unrestored in like-new original condition. Piled areas exhibit no signs of wear. No cracking, no holes, no adulterations of any kind of coloring or touchups, and only signs of use being wisping to the ends of the fringe and two or three rows of knots removed from either end. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use! Many years of enjoyment to come with this hand knotted Persian Kashan carpet made in Persia circa 1910's vintage. Size measures 7'2" x 9'9".
