Breathtaking, 100 + year old Safi Khani / Qashqai Persian Rug
5' x 8' 4"
This gorgeous rarity is amongst the finest examples of this generation of Qashqai. This piece is comprised entirely of Persian wool raised, sheared, dyed, spun and woven by the Safi Khani subtribe of the Qashqais. Known for their astounding geometric designs and sturdy construction, examples of these rugs are highly sought after by collectors around the world!
This masterpiece showcases the complexity of this tribe's designs. Everything incorporated into this piece reflects the culture of these skilled nomads. Intricate borders frame in a beautiful field of tribal symbols that honor different aspects of nature. Pillars with dragon heads pay homage to the empires ancient capital, Persopoles. This rug is not only rich in design, but also heritage.
Even with the many details in this piece doesn't quite overwhelm you. Careful consideration was taken when selecting the colors to go into this piece. Beautiful shades of rust, cream and just the right amount of blues for contrast make this piece incredibly versatile. It pairs well with any interior and flooring.
Despite its age this piece is incredible condition. It has even wear and no damage to its structure and no signs of repair. This rug is an incredible example of the lasting quality of these tribal pieces and it is so easy to see why they are so beloved by many.
