About the Item

This is a particularly interesting original Heriz carpet, the wear quite extensive and even throughout the entire carpet. It is a rug with character and charm, one that speaks of age and enjoyment over the years - however, the rug still remains very sturdy and strong and well maintained will certainly continue to be a rather interesting "shabby" piece for an interior needing patina. The central medallion features a dark navy ground, the bold structure mostly round as it frames the eight-arms of the interior motif. The ground of the primary carpet is a delightful mellow pink with light blue spandrels, the complex array of geometrical shapes throughout a mix of soft greens, browns, cream, blues and reds. Because antique rugs are difficult to purchase sight-unseen on the internet, we offer a hassle-free 14-day return policy on rugs (as well as all of our easily shipped items) - the buyer is simply responsible for cost of shipping in both directions, but this is usually very reasonable. For anyone passionate about antique Persian Heriz and Serapi rugs, this is an absolute treasure. Measurements: 128 1/2" L x 84" W Condition Report: Very heavily worn pile with extensive structure visibility. The result is actually very attractive and the rug remains very sturdy structurally. Fringes and selvedge with extensive wear, some loss and breakout here and there; color variation in the selvedge suggests portions of the cords were rewrapped at one point to lend strength to the edges. At the top of the medallion, where wear is most aggressive, there is an area that has worn through the rug if you pull the cords aside (see slideshow).
