A colorful hand-knotted rug from Central Anatolia with an unusual all-over design of 96 square boxes with flowers in them. Measures: 4.6 x 5.6 ft
Made of 100% Wool; flower, root and plant dyed and hand-spun.
Excellent condition with even medium pile throughout.
In Anatolia, rugs of this quality with all natural dyes and well drawn intricate designs were often made as a part of a bride's dowry and kept in a dowry chest for decades without being used on the floor and passed on to daughters and granddaughters. We were so fortunate to acquire this exceptional example of textile art in a such a pristine condition.
