About the Item

Hand-knotted in wool circa 1920-1930, this 9×12 antique Oushak rug is a rare curation from the Rug & Kilim collection. Originating from Turkey, it enjoys an open field design in beige, with gold and red borders and floral patterns. On the Design: Admirers of the craft will appreciate this as an exemplary and collectible find among the most sought-after Turkish rugs. Its borders, patterns and spandrels favor a more architectural style than many of its kind, and play gorgeously with the warm desert tones within. Keen eyes may further admire subtle hints of green and pink, as well as how beautifully all the colors have aged for a work of such fine detail. It’s one of few large-size masterpieces that balance regal and comfortable allure, and furthermore one of the finest works of open field design we’ve seen—a personal favorite of R&K Principal Jahanshah Nazmiyal. Condition: This early 20th century antique Oushak rug enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
