Antique West Anatolian Long Rug

About the Item

Antique West Anatolian long runner rug. This rug is a great example of Anatolian village weaving traditions featuring a design attributed to the Afyon-Dazkiri region. A very charming rug with brilliant colors and lots of interesting details, which, combined with the chunkier weave, points to a nomadic origin rather than a product of village workshops.

Three large and boldly articulated medallions in the style of early Kazak weavings from the Caucasus dominate the vibrant madder-red field of this historically important and masterfully executed example from eastern Anatolia.
