Hand Knotted Turkish Carpet with Caucasian Dragon Soumak Design
About the Item
This outstanding carpet was woven about 30 years ago by the mother of my Turkish restorer. It was made in the family home in a small village in central Turkey and is now offered for sale for the first time in its history.
The carpet has a beautifully drawn version of the classic 19th century dragon design that is found mainly on Caucasian flatweaves from the Kuba region. The quality of the wool and the colour palette is really outstanding.
The carpet is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and full pile, the carpet retains the original end finishes at both ends. The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use such as a dining or living room. Hand washed and ready for use.
