Antique 19th Century Turkish Oushak Area Rug with Seafoam Field, Orange Border

About the Item

This large antique Ouskak rug measures 13'6" (W) x 18' (L). In very good condition with silky lustrous wool and a beautiful color palette. The field features a light seafoam background with beautiful gold, blush rose, orange and off-white ornamentation. This rug has a very open and airy field with lots of space between the design elements. It would work perfectly in an eclectic modern space or a more traditional setting. The jewel tone colors in the border of this rug are exceptional and quite rare to be paired with a much lighter field. The floral motifs create beautiful geometry that give the carpet's design organic movement. This rug has a dreamy old world feel to it. There a few small minor repairs, which are nearly impossible to detect. This particular Oushak carpet has an Arts and Crafts William Morris sensibility and is an exceptional example in very good condition for its age with a thick pile. Made in the late 19th century, Oushak rugs of this era were often designed with a very playful and primitive sensibility that makes them modern and timeless. For its age, this rug is in very good condition with very silky wool that is indicative of early Oushaks. This piece comes from Joseph Carini's Private Reserve Collection.
