The town of Kayseri in central Turkey is known for producing rugs in traditional designs from other weaving centers. These rugs are woven primarily on cotton foundations with wool, mercerized cotton, or silk piles. This wool on cotton example utilizes an overall design often found in Seychour rugs from the Caucasus of large “St. Andrews Cross” cruciform medallions.
