Two tree of life columns sprout from the bottom and extend to the botanical mihrab. The tree of life motif is common to many prayer rugs and symbolizes the connecting link between heaven and earth. This particular rug includes an intricate cartouche inscription at either end. The main border features symmetrical placements of opulent frondescence, with ribbon and ornamentation to further complement the decadence of this piece. The intricate rinceaux and winding arrangements of garnished foliage are sufficiently mesmorizing, but the use of color is extraordinary.
