Beautiful Oriental Design Brown Vintage Turkish Kars Rug, Country Of Origin: Turkey, Circa date: Vintage – Kars rugs hold a distinctive place in interior design. they have an earthy feel and tribal quality that is warm and inviting. They make the space feel like a sanctuary with their earthy tones and simple designs. The area has a new history and has seen the influences of many cultures. The Armenian cultures were some of the first to influence rugs from the area and add a tribal flavor to the designs. Later would come the Seljuks and Ottoman Empires that favored bold geometric designs. You will also find symbols that are also found in Caucasian rugs throughout the piece.
This gorgeous piece features a center medallion with formal pendants, much as you would find in Turkish rugs. The beautiful browns range from light to chocolate giving it a regal feel that is reminiscent of the reflecting pools that once adorned the courtyards of palaces. The symmetry gives it a balanced feel, but you can still see the tribal influences and personal connection to the Weaver in the execution of the piece. The result is an Exquisite piece that has a close connection to the people and culture that created it.
