This hand knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug features an all-over trellis pattern composed of offset rows of rounded floral motifs spread across an abrashed light blue field. The pattern is reminiscent of Islamic tile work as well as silk brocade work. Displaying a distinct European influence, the rounded medallions are known as the wreath or wheel motif, while the larger medallions each contain a flowering fleur-de-lis style palmette. The elegant pattern is complemented perfectly by a coordinating large scale acanthus leaf border. With a lovely soft color palette and traditional Rennaisance-style design, this stately vintage Turkish Oushak rug would bring a sense of old world sophistication and elegance to any space.
