Antique European Rug in Blue, with Floral Patterns
About the Item
Hand Knotted in wool, this 16x19 European rug hails from a factory that still exists today called “fabrica de Tapices” in Spain, circa early 20th century. This masterpiece is very unique in its emphasis on blue, but the design resembles European Savonneries and Aubussons.
On the design:
Embodying the grandiose sensibility of the European Savonnerie and Aubusson styles, this rug has an elaborate central medallion and finely detailed floral patterns in its field and border. This one-of-a-kind piece is quite unique for its emphasis on blue color, along with the vibrant colorway of red, green, gold and pink tones. Keen eyes for detail will admire the elegant combination of various present design elements like central paneled rosette with fruiting and blossoming garlands along with foliate sprays within a sunburst and leaf-tied border. It’s a regal piece, both extremely collectible and versatile in its large size and wide range of hues alike.
Condition:
This antique European rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
