109 armchair, Giandomenico Belotti, Alias, Italy, 1980's

About the Item

“Ornament is a crime!” said Adolf Loos at the beginning of the last century. A position perfectly illustrated through the 109 model where Belotti shows its influences, between the Italian rationalist movement and the radical forms of Corbusier armchairs. Resulting from the fruitful partnership in the 80s between Giandomenico Belotti and the publisher Alias, the 109 is a piece derived from the spaghetti chair entered at the MoMa in New York. Structure in chrome steel rod and thick washable PVC canvas, tensioned by springs.
