Mahogany and woven palm fiber armchairs, 1960s

About the Item

A priori, different influences emanate from the design of these armchairs. The materials, the use of weaving and the level of finish lead us first to think that these are Scandinavian armchairs, then, looking more closely, the woven palm fiber leads us to see a more exotic ancestry. Indeed, the format of the armchair associated with the basketry takes us to the Orient with perhaps a nod to traditional Afghan armchairs. Going a little further to India, we will make a final stop at the New Delhi manufacturer, Taaru, which in the 60s offered beautiful armchairs in the same spirit, designed by Mini Boga.
